At this year’s CES AMD showed off a new platform named Yukon that featured a single-core Athlon Neo processor. The machine from HP that it was inside rivaled the MacBook Air in thickness, was cooled passively to prevent noise and size, and impressed most that saw it.

Babbage's Analytical Engine Passes the First Test
The Analytical Engine of Charles Babbage was never completed in his lifetime, but his son Henry Provost Babbage built the mill portion of the machine from his father's drawings, and on January 21, 1888 computed multiples of pi to prove the adequacy of the design. Facebook sues Power.com
Dell launches 256GB solid-state drives for XPS Facebook is suing Power.com, a Brazilian start-up that lets users access a number of social networks through one portal.
Facebook filed a lawsuit on December 30 in United States District Court in San Jose, Calif., for copyright and trademark infringement; unlawful competition; and violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, CAN-SPAM Act, and the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, among other charges.
BDell has increased the capacity of the solid-state drives on its range of XPS laptops, but not the price--at least as far as the United States is concerned.

Apple selling used products online in China

Late last week a Samsung-manufactured 256GB SSD appeared on Dell's U.S. Web site as an option for the XPS M1330 and M1730 laptops. The SSD is available as an upgrade, at a US$400 premium, to the base specifications of those laptops.

Apple announced on Tuesday it has opened an online store selling used products in China in an effort to expand its business there, according to a Reuters report.

The new store is offering discounts of up to 22 percent on various refurbished products.

Apple said on its website that the products had been previously sold, then returned, and had undergone quality tests, Reuters reported.
